How A Dolphin Rescues Two Pygmy Whales
Moko, the bottlenose dolphin, saves two pygmy whales off the New Zealand
coast.  The two whales were stranded on the beach about 300 miles NE of the
capital, Wellington.  The mother and calf were stranded a total of four times.

Then comes along Moko and guided the two whales to sea.  They swam about
200 yards along the beach and through a channel to the open sea.

If Moko had not rescued the mother and calf the Conservation Department
would have had to kill the two whales because they were so disoriented they kept
getting stranded on the sand bars.  The workers didn't want the whales to suffer so
they were about to be euthanized, then Moko shows up and saves the whales.

That's unusual behavior for a dolphin because they don't usually help other
creatures except us humans and other sick dolphins.

When Moko finished saving the whales he returned to the beach to play with
the swimmers like he does frequently.  One day I hope to visit that beach and spend
some time with Moko.
