I grade on a 10 point system.  The individual assignment gets a number grade.  Book
reports, projects and report cards get a letter grade.  Here's my breakdown of letter
grades:

  I expect above average from my son.  He's capable if he applies himself and asks for
assistance when truly needed.  He is to re-do every assignment that is a C or below,
regardless of what it is.  He's to re-do it on his own time, not during "school" time.
However, the original grade is the one recorded, not the do over one.  I just do that to
make sure he knows the material as well as teaching him it's ALWAYS easier to do
things right the first time around.  Rushing through or making it up gets you nowhere fast!

  There is a neat tool I use to make grading those odd number of problems correctly.  I
found it at our local
Parent Teacher Store.  It's The EZ Grader.  If you decide to
purchase one, make sure you get one that fits the grading scale you use, they have
different ones.
Grade Sheet
  Keeping a log of all the grades can be a task.  Over the years, I've come up
with many different variations.  Here's the latest version that we'll use this year.
There are two different pdf forms because I grade on 11 different subjects as
well as book reports and projects separately.

   I often give more than one assignment per subject during a day.  That's why I
don't use just one block per day.   I will use one set of these per period.

   Make sure you keep all your records and add them to your portfolio for school
board/state officials.

  Because I'm getting older, I've enlarged the print for my personal use.  If you'd
like a smaller print version, condensed sheet or different subjects up top, just
shoot me an email and I'll modify it for you for easy printing.
90's - 100 = A
80's = B
70's = C
60's = D
50's and below is failing
The effort on the report card section is noted as:
                                                                            E = exceptional
                                                                            S = satisfactory
                                                                            N = needs improvement
                                                                            U = unsatisfactory
